OUR SERVICES
OUR 16+ SERVICE

Shepherds Gate Semi-Independent Living service provides a high standard of accommodation and supportive environment for residents aged 16 to 24 years.
We aim to ensure young people are able to develop and maintain respect, self-reliance and self-care skills and enable them to make informed, age-appropriate decisions, concerning their present and future so they can achieve a successful transition into independence and adulthood.

Services offered are based on an assessment of the young person’s needs.

We work on the basis of being a “good parent” – providing structure, support, encouragement and guidance together with emotional warmth. Our staff provide positive role models for the young people we support.

We work, where appropriate, with the young person’s family in order to assist in improving relationships and actively support them to maintain the positive links in their lives.

We also liaise with external agencies to support the work carried out with young people. This includes drug and alcohol services, advocacy services and CAMH services.
WORKING TOGETHER
At Shepherds gate the views of residents are considered extremely important and very much valued. This approach is important in creating the sense of ownership and responsibility we encourage in the young person’s life.
